Games are stored as ROM files. Get them onto your device or computer first, then import them into FOX Emulator.

Games come as ROM files. FOX Emulator reads .gba, .gbc, .gb, .nes, .smc, .sfc, .n64, .z64, .nds and .zip archives.

Download to your device

Save the ROM file to your iPhone, iPad or computer — anywhere you can grab it from later.

Import & play

Bring the file into FOX Emulator using any of the three methods below, then tap to play.

SAFE & LEGAL SOURCES
  • ✓Dump cartridges you own — the fully-legal path. Use a cartridge dumper to create backups of games you physically own.
  • ✓Homebrew & public-domain games — free, legal titles from itch.io and the Internet Archive.
  • ✓Official re-release stores — buy classics directly from GOG or Nintendo Switch Online.

Import From Files

Import games straight from your device.

2Pick a ROM in the Files app / document picker.
3It appears in your library, ready to play.
METHOD 2

Wi-Fi Transfer

Send games from a PC or another device over Wi-Fi — no cable needed.

1Turn on Wi-Fi import in the app.
2Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
3Open the shown URL (e.g. 192.168.x.x:8080) in a browser and drag files in.
METHOD 3

Read Clipboard

Supports files copied from macOS or the Files app.

1Copy a ROM file on your Mac or in Files.
2Open FOX Emulator on your iPhone.
3Tap Read Clipboard — the game imports instantly.
